A new Chick-fil-A just opened in Uptown Memphis, marking a major milestone in the ongoing revitalization of the Medical District. With six neighborhoods calling it home, the district, and Uptown in particular, have been breathing new life into the area with a recent boom in businesses.
This new restaurant adds even more flavor and experience to the vibrant community.
At the helm is Cece Glenn, a Memphis native and the new owner-operator. Handpicked by the Chick-fil-A CEO, Glenn is the first African-American and the first woman to serve in this role in the city, and her return home with this business is a powerful testament to the district's growth.
The grand opening celebration was a day full of energy, marked by three distinct ribbon cuttings, each with its own significance. The Memphis Medical District Collaborative led the first ceremony to honor the area's ongoing revitalization. The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce followed, celebrating the impressive business growth happening across the city. The final, much-anticipated ribbon was cut by Chick-fil-A, officially welcoming the brand to the neighborhood.
Leaders like Memphis Mayor Paul Young and Shelby County Commissioner Mickell Lowery joined the cheering crowd. While the official ceremony was a huge event, grand opening day has been a calm yet busy start, proving the efficiency of the new drive-thru and mobile-only spot.
This new Chick-fil-A is also making a significant economic impact, creating 120 new jobs for the area. BRIDGES provided the training space for new team members. Looking to the future, Glenn is partnering with her alma mater, Manassas High School, and other local schools to create an entrepreneurship program, giving students a chance to learn and grow with the brand.
