The future is female, and the present is, too! The Memphis Medical District Collaborative's recent "Discover the District" tour took ladies on a journey of economic growth, opportunity and inspiration.
This special tour, led by the MMDC Real Estate & Economic Development Team, brought together people from CREW Memphis, Commercial Bank and Trust Company, the Greater Memphis Chamber, and Pathway Lending.
The tour kicked off at Strings of Madison, where the community is excited about the upcoming arrival of Peach Cobbler Factory. The new eatery is steps away from Orleans Station, where the group learned about the vision for this new development and how it's helping reshape the Medical District. The ladies then boarded the bus and went to Malone Park Commons, a residential project that showcased some smart housing ideas, including a quadplex and a one-bedroom cottage.
A highlight of the Malone Park Commons stop was getting to celebrate three women-owned businesses:
Each of these businesses brings something special to the community.
We also stopped at Medical District Park to share plans for turning it into a green space for everyone. The last stop was at the new Chick-fil-A Uptown, where owner-operator CeCe Glenn talked about her commitment to the neighborhood and creating jobs.
From real estate and small business to wellness and community building, the tour was a strong reminder of how women are shaping the future of the Memphis Medical District and the city.
MMDC's next "Discover the District" tour is all about the "Next Gen." The team is looking for rising leaders, young pros, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about real estate development, business, and the future of Memphis.
If you're part of that next wave of people ready to connect and make a difference, this tour is for you!
We'll announce the date and sign-up details soon, so stay tuned!
